Just a week after winning his first tournament of the year, Richard will contest for the Tokyo title, when he faces fellow Shanghai hopeful, David Ferrer in Sunday's final.

Richard defeated Tomas Berdych 7-6(3), 6-3 in Saturday's Semifinal at the AIG Japan Open.

"I had to play my best tennis [against Berdych] because he is one of the best players in the world and has a great forehand. I am tired after last week but it is one more match so I will give as usual my best."
