Richard has captured his first title of the year and his first title on hard courts. Richard defeated Olivier Rochus in the Kingfisher Airlines final in Mumbai 6-3, 6-4.

This is the fifth title of Richard's career and a huge boost in his hopes of making the Masters Cup in Shanghai.

Impressively, Richard claimed this title without even dropping a set.

The ATP site has some quotes from Richard:

"I'm very happy to have won a title on hard court. I had won on grass, clay and indoor (synthetic), so it shows I can play on every court, which is very important for me."

"It's my first title of the year and my first title in India, so I will have great memories of this tournament for sure. The conditions were tough here with the humidity - it's not the same in France - and maybe I got a little tired. I didn't lose a set all week, which was very good."
