It was another dog fight for Richard today as he ousted the number 7 seed, Ivan Ljubicic 6-3, 6-7(5), 7-5.
In the quarter-finals Richard will play Juan Carlos Ferrero.
Richard got off to a fast start in this match, going up 3-0. Richard did not relinquish this early break of serve and gained a one set lead.
The second set looked to be going the same way as the first when Richard went a break up. However Ljubicic mounted a comeback, and sneaked the set on a tie break.
The third set was a real dog fight. Richard initially got off to a good start getting an immediate break. However Ljubicic broke back and the match went down to the wire. At 6-5, Richard squandered a couple of match points before eventually claiming victory.
