It was a three set match which saw the momentum swing several times. However, as the third set slipped away, it was Djokovic who claimed victory 7-6(2), 1-6, 6-1.

Next up for Richard is Lyon which begins on Monday.

After losing the first set to Djokovic, Richard came back with avengance in the second and stormed to a 6-1 set to level the match.

Djokovic secured an early break in the final set though. Despite Richard's chances to get back into the match, he was unable to take them, and then slipped to a double break deficit.
