After receiving a bye in the first round of the Nasdaq-100 Open, Richard will face Florent Serra in the second round.

Seeded 12, Gasquet comes into the Nasdaq-100 Open after a successful week in Indian Wells where he won through to the fourth round before losing to world number one, Roger Federer. Hopefully the confidence from that tournament will help him through his second round clash with his compatriot, Serra.

Serra made it through to the second round with a win over another Frenchman in round one, Gilles Simon, 6-2, 6-4. Serra reached a career high ranking of 37 in January when he won the Adelaide tournament, However, since then the Frenchman has only won three matches and comes into this tournament on the back of two first round losses.
