Richard extended his head-to-head against Denis Istomin to 6-1. He defeated the Uzbek 6-3 6-4 in the quarterfinals of Montpellier and will play Gael Monfils for a place in the final.

Much more relaxed than in his first match, Richard was never in danger against Istomin. He did not have to face a single breakpoint and converted his own chances very efficently. One break in each set was enough to seal victory in little over an hour.
