Richard put up a serious fight against Juan Martin del Potro, but had to concede the match in a tight battle 7-6 3-6 5-7. His next opponent is either Roger Federer or Novak Djokovic.
The Argentine won the toss and decided to recieve, but Richard showed right from teh start that this match would not be a walkover for his Opponent as so many commentators had predicted. Having achieved a break in the 8th game, he allowed a straight rebreak, but played a strong tiebreak with four outright winners to take the first set 7-6.Richard was aggressive throughout and this aggressiveness caused some errors, a single break was enough for del Potro to get to one set all. In the third set, Richard's serve was a bit off and the Argentine went up a break, but could not close out the match when serving for it. Richard, however, lost his serve again and at the second attempt del Potro sealed the deal for a hard fought 6-7 6-3 7-5 victory.
