Richard's schedule over the summer consists of: the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington DC; the two Masters Series events in Montreal and Cincinnati; Pilot Pen Tennis in New Haven; and the Grand Finale at Flushing Meadows in New York.

Doing well in these tournaments, will directly help with Richard's winnings at the US Open. It is only the second season of the US Open series, and last year's champions were Lleyton Hewitt and Lindsay Davenport.

The US Open series is receiving a lot of attention in the States, with both TV and media picking up on it. The US Open Series combines both the men's and women's tennis tours, and last year generated: 1.5 million attendees, 126 million TV viewers and over 15 million website visits
