Richard lost a very tight battle to Juan Martin del Potro in the quarterfinals of Marseille. He went down 5-7 6-7, havings scored only one point less than his opponent.
Broken at the start, Richard broke right back and had 2 setpoints on Del Potro's serve. But the Argentine saved them with huge serving, broke and served out. Though Richard had to concede a break early in the second set, he never gave up fighting, playing good balanced tennis between defense and attack. He had again setpoint, but again del Potro came up with an ace. The tiebreak was brilliant from both players, and in the end, it was one point which made the difference.
Richard's next tournament is Dubai.
