Richard needed little more than an hour to beat Go Soeda 6-0 6-2. His next opponent is Igor Kunitsyn.

Poor serving from the Japanese allowed Richard three breaks in the first set. In the second set, Richard was quickly 3-0, before the Soeda found some conistency. But it was not enough. Richard sealed victory with his fifth break.

Nevertheless, Richard himsel saved seven breakpoints throughout the match, some of them with courageous attacks.
