Two breaks at the worst moment made Richard lose 5-7 5-7 to Mardy Fish in the third round of Ciincinnati. His next tournament is the US Open.

The first set was bizarre. Richard had very few direct winners and Fish committed quite some errors, but both players held serve comfortably up to 5 all. A bad service game cost Richard the set.

In the second set, both plyaed well. Richard had a breakpoint in the eighth game, but again it was Fish who was more successful in the 11th game to seal a 7-5 7-5 victory.
