Richard defeated Tomas Berdych 4-6 6-2 6-4 to reach his first M1000 semifinal since 2007.
In the frist set, it looked as if Richard had not yet digested his win against Roger from the day before. The Czech overpowered him to take it 6-4Things changed completely in the second set: Richard got better and Berdych had nothing to offer.
Many breakpoints for both players in the third set, it was Richard who capitalised first:He was rebroken immediately, but he could not be stopped. Richard broke again for 5-4, and this time Berdych could not come back. It was a fantastic last service game from Richard who sealed victory on his first matchpoint with a huge backhand winner.
