Richard had to retire from Rotterdam.

This was a consequence of his earlier retirement in the Zagreb quarterfinals against the German Berrer.

Richard had reached the quarterfinals without a match, due to a first-round-bye and a walk-over against his compatriote Arnaud Clément.

Richerd suffers a double tendinitis on his right shoulder, which reportedly bothered him already before Zagreb. It is hoped that he will be back in Dubai, starting on 21 February 2011.
