In his third meeting with Olivier Rochus within six weeks, Richard defeated his Belgian opponent 6-0 6-1 in the first round of Belgrade.

In a non-televised match, Richard did not have to face a single breakpoint and needed less than an hour to seal victory.

His next opponent is the Italian Andreas Seppi.
