Richard has been called to the French Davis Cup team which plays its first round tie against the Czech Republic in Ostrava from 6-8 March 2009.
In contrast to previous years, Richard won't be playing singles on the first day, but is part of the doubles alongside lefty Mikael Llodra, France's experienced doubles player. Their opponents on paper is the Czech pair Hernych/Dlouhy, but this may change according to the Czech Davis Cup captain's decision after the singles.
The same is true for the French singles players on Sunday. While Simon and Tsonga are foreseen at the moment, Guy Forget can still change this situation.
The tie will be played on a fast indoor court.
