Richard Gasquet bowed out of the Nasdaq-100 Open last night as he lost 7-6(7), 6-3 to Florent Serra.
In an extremely close first set, where both players won the same amount of points, Richard lost out in the tie break. Both players had exchanged a break of serve and the deadlock took them to the tie break which Richard lost 9-7.
One break of serve was all Serra needed in the second set to eliminate his compatriot from the Miami tournament. Serra wrapped up victory over the number twelve seed and now goes on to face big serving Croat, Mario Ancic.
This is the end of Richard's stay in Miami as he is not competing in the doubles draw there. Up next for Richard is the Davis Cup quarter finals which pits France against Russia, with the tie to be held in Pau, the weekend of 7-9 April.
