Richard, as the number one ranked Frenchman, has been called up for Davis Cup duty.

Guy Forget, the French captain made the announcement today that Gasquet, Grosjean, Clement, Llodra, and a fifth player, Mathieu will make the trip to Germany for the first round of Davis Cup.

The Germans have fielded an equally strong team, with their captain, Patrik Kühnen, selecting Kiefer, Haas, Mayer, Schuettler and Waske.

The tie will be played on the weekend, the 10-12th February. The location is the Gerry Weber Stadium, Halle in Germany.
