Richard is out of TMS Cincinnati after he suffered defeat at the hands of Croatian, Mario Ancic 6-4, 7-6(6). It was a closely fought match, with both men creating opportunities and breaking eachother's serve.

Gael Monfils, fresh after his victory was there to cheer on his friend, but some good play from Ancic saw him break Richard at 5-4 for the first set.

During the first set, Richard received treatment from the trainer on his right arm.

The second set saw Richard demonstrate his flair for brilliance and he used the drop shot to good effect, However, Ancic was the more consistent of the two, and edged the Frenchman out in the tie break.
