After Richard's win yesterday and Lleyton Hewitt losing to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, French Davis Cup captain Arnaud Clément sent his best players out for doubles. They won 5-7 7-6 6-2 7-5.
The French team stormed into a quick lead in the first set, but errors crept into their game and they not only had to see the Australians equalising but taking the first set 7-5. In the second set, Tsonga fell into a small hole and the French team was broken. Thanks to Richard's calmness with which he compensated for Tsong'as partial absence, the French team could rebreak and take the set into a breaker, which they won.
In the third set, Tsonga regained his from and with both Frenchies playing well, they won the set easily 6-2. In the forth set, Richard was impeccable and used the first match point on Hewitt's serve for a 5-7 7-6 6-2 7-5 victory which sent France into the DC quarter finals against Germany.
Richard's next scheduled tournament is Montpellier, his "home"-tournament.
