Richard lost his 4th round match to Novak Djokovic 4-6 4-6 2-6.
Broken right at the start, Richard was never totally free in this match, when total confidence and belief would have been a prerequisite to trouble the man of the year - Novak Djokovic, unbeaten in 2011. Richard hung in and fought, he even had break backpoints, but Novak was simply too strong and took the set 6-4. A similar pattern in the second set, one break did the job for the Serb. In the third set, Djokovic was unplayable, Two breaks down, Richard saved matchpoints at 5-1*, but the Serb served the match out for a 6-4 6-4 6-2 victory.
