Richard lost his QF match in Queen's to David Nalbandian 4-6 6-3 6-7. Richard did not lose without a fight and only conceded defeat in the tiebreak of the third set 3-7.
Stats below:
With hindsight, it might have been better not to have started serving. Richard lost his first service game, in which he was confronted with the single break points during the whole match.
In the second set, some good returns forced Nalbandian into rallies and errors and Richard could go up 3-0. He held his advantage to serve out the set. Commentators and the crowds enjoyed some of Richard's "backhand-gunners".
In the third set, Richie had slightly more troubles to hold serve, but was never in real danger. Three forhand errors in the breaker decided the match. Overall it was an aggressive and variable grass court performance, there is much to build on for his next tournament in s'Hertogenbosch next week.
