The match started very late and finished even later around 1.30 in the morning. Richard did not convert his breakpoints in the first set and a lose game cost him the first set. In the second set he broke in the first game and never looked back to win the set 6-4. In a long game in the final set, Richard was able to break the Luxemburgian again, but had to save break points when serving for the match. When he closed it out, there were hardly any spectators left.
