Richard defeated Daniel Brands 7-5 7-5 to reach the final of Doha.
Richard had to save a breakpoint right in his first service game and did so with an ace. He had to save more breakpoints in the fifth game. In the sixth game, it was the German who had to prove his stamina by saving three breakpoints.But at 6-5*, Richard capitalised on another brekpoint and won the set 7-5. The same scenario in the second set, Richard took a breakpoint at 6-5* and the match alltogether.
Richard will play Nikolaj Davdenko in the final and retired from Sydney where he was scheduled to play next week.
