Richard lost a bizarre match to Albert Ramos 6-3 5-7 1-6 in the second round of Indian Wells. His next scheduled tournament is Miami.
Richard won the first set comfortably against the error-accumlating Spaniard. He had match point on Ramos' serve and could not convert. When he himself served for the match at 5*-4, he was broken and it all went down from there.
Ramos broke Richard to win the second set 7-5 and raced to a 5-0 lead in the decider. Richard avoided a bagel, but that was it.
There was no visible sign of injury, but Richard was far away from the form he had shown in Marseille against del Potro, before the flu forced him aout of Dubai.
